In January 2016, Dubai hosted one of the Persian Gulf’s largest Skeet Shooting competitions, welcoming over 1,000 participants from 15 nationalities. The four-day event, held at the Dubai Police Shooting Range, featured two competition formats — standard skeet shooting with 22mm rifles at 50 metres, and a rapid-fire elimination tournament. Rather than focusing on timing, the technological challenge centered on streamlining event management, transitioning from manual, paper-based systems to an integrated digital workflow using custom software and hardware developed by Microgate.

To manage the large number of participants efficiently, Microgate introduced a disposable RFID bracelet system that simplified registration, check-in, and athlete tracking. Each shooter’s bracelet, linked to their personal data and photo, allowed automated access control and heat assignments. This system significantly reduced queues and waiting times, enabling organisers to track participants in real time and predict race schedules accurately. Security was enhanced through RFID-enabled turnstiles, ensuring only authorised shooters and judges could enter the competition area.

For scoring, Microgate developed an Android tablet app for judges to input results instantly, take photos of targets, and sync data via Wi-Fi with the central server. Real-time results and rankings were displayed on large screens and touch totems with printers, while TV graphics broadcast live updates throughout the Gulf. The fully integrated system — including local and cloud databases — modernised every stage of the event, from registration to results, earning high praise from the organisers of Fazza3 and securing Microgate’s continued partnership for the following year’s night edition during Ramadan.
